Grandpa's Funeral

My grandparents served faithfully in Brazil for almost 40 years. The Brazilian flag in place of flowers was our way of commemorating that.

A friend of theirs wrote a biography of their experiences in Brazil (A Rainbow in the Dark), and PAX TV did a documentary of the work by their team with the Xavante Indians.

The picture is their wedding photo (sorry about the glare from the flash), the Bible is opened to the passage that best represented their lives - Psalm 91.

At the service. The bouquet of flowers consist of 18 red roses, representing the 18 of us still alive, and 4 white roses, respresenting 4 of the family members who preceded him in death (his wife, Betty, his daughter, Rosalee, his daughter-in-law, Gloria, and his great-grandson, Christopher). We also did a "candle-lighting" ceremony in which people shared how my grandfather's life and testimony impacted them. We played the Ray Boltz song "Thank You for Giving to the Lord" which testified to how he lived ministry.
It was a beautiful service. Thank you to all my friends who made the effort to be there for me, words can't express my appreciation and love!
